City bath Döbeln II

Interior/ art in architecture/ City bath Döbeln II, pool landscape for small children

Adjoining to the pool area that I designed in 2013 with porcelain elements, a pool-landscape for small children was rebuilt and renovated in 2020, for which I designed and produced a separately new design concept with various porcelain elements – this harmonizes and accentuates the structural components and supports the cheerful subject: The basic idea consists of picture panels arranged in pairs on the front of the pool walls, which associate “aquarium windows”. The top of the wall is crowned by abstract frog reliefs with imaginative paintings, which are also echoed in the mosaic of the back walls in an irregular (“random”) arrangement. These vary in size, color and decor. The structurally required white slip edges of the stair steps, which strongly emphasize the horizontal, are reflected in a refined way in the matt white relief bands, subtly refined with graphic gold sequences, which I placed all around the upper area of the pool walls. The “capitals” of three columns get formed by groups of frog figurines playing with golden balls, as well as the “Neptune” illustration that gives the gargoyle on the inner pool wall a face – these are reminiscent of fairy tale motifs.
